Lana Organic – Family business from Aachen

Lea Schumacher am 3. February 2019

Due to the uncertain legal situation in Germany, I have to label this article as advertising, even if I have not received any money for it.

“Mum knows better.” Sometimes the sentence is true, and so did it over 30 years ago in 1987.

History

Parental love is something special. This was also the experience of the Kohnen family in 1987, at the height of polyester, polyacrylic and spandex.

To enable their three children to wear natural fibers, they started their own small children’s clothing brand. Anne Claßen-Kohnen made the clothes for her children and later for LANA natural textiles.

In 2014, the company expanded to include more fashion brands, and in 2017, Maria Kohnen – the daughter of Anne Claßen-Kohnen – took over the Lana Organic brand.

Philosophy

The GOTS certified company guarantees 100% biomaterials for a toxin-free clothing and a fair and safe production.

My opinion

To be honest, I did not even know the Lana Organic brand until the Neonyt, but I was attracted by the patterns of the Fall/Winter 2019/2020 collection, which were designed by hand.

On closer examination convinced me the high quality of workmanship and materials.

Although Lana Organic’s prices are at first a shock to people who otherwise only buy fast fashion, considering how little clothing is in comparison to “normal” clothing, the longevity of the clothing and the timelessness of the designs, sustainable and fair production, the investment is clearly profitable.

That is only my personal opinion.
